For as long as the White River has flowed through this corner of Wisconsin, the area surrounding 1841 Farms and Vineyard has been a gathering place of peace and tranquility.
In the early 1800s, the Kickapoo Tribe of Native Americans canoed down the river to hold meetings on the banks of what is now The Landing. By 1887, farmer True Worthy Durgin solidified his reputation as a “conductor” of the Underground Railroad by sheltering runaway slaves on the property as they escaped to Canada. We’ve honored his legacy with The Trueworthy House, where you can host a small event or prepare for your dream wedding on the grounds of The Landing at 1841.
More than a century later, the Landing continued True Worthy’s legacy when internationally recognized artist and peace activist Matt Lamb transformed the property into his northern escape that housed one of his seven art studios around the world. Here, he felt moved by the Holy Spirit to create art that expressed peace, tolerance, hope and love. When Tim and Renee Richter bought the property in 2015, there were more than 9,000 of Matt’s paintings tucked away in the barns and shed.
Owners Tim and Renee Richter now live with their young family on the grounds of The Rustic Barn at Prairie Gardens, where they invite you and your guests to surround yourselves with the turn-of-the-century barn’s rustic charm and natural beauty.
Today, the 1841 Farms and Vineyard – including The Landing and The Rustic Barn at Prairie Gardens – offers the perfect locations to create your own story. There’s the saying, “Home is where your story begins”. We invite you to our country home to create your own story.

“From the first visit while looking at venues for our wedding day, we were in constant awe at how beautiful The Landing was. This venue has an indoor or outdoor ceremony area, the most gorgeous reception room, a bridal suite to get ready the day of; it sits on 50 acres of beautiful land, and has the best staff a soon to be married couple could ever ask for.”
